Unfortunately, many users are intimidated by learning how to consume the cannabis flower. However, there’s no need to be embarrassed! Everyone’s a newbie when it comes to marijuana at one point or another. Luckily, we’ve organized this article to provide you with everything you need to know. That way you can start trying it with confidence. Let’s get started!

Different Ways You Can Consume Cannabis Flower

Newcomers often don’t know how to work many of the instruments typically used to smoke cannabis. This makes it intimidating for them to smoke in a group setting. Luckily, in this section, we’ll be describing some of the popular ways you can consume cannabis flowers. We’ll also go into detail about how newcomers can try it.

1. Joints

Joints are probably one of the most popular methods of smoking cannabis flower — and for good reason too. All you need is paper and a grinder or a pair of scissors. Joint paper is inexpensive and readily available at most convenience stores. Unfortunately, joints can be difficult for some newcomers to roll.

Luckily, many cannabis shops sell pre-rolled joints. Or you can purchase a rolling machine that makes the process much easier. To smoke a joint first hold the front portion over the flame from a lighter. You should notice the front of the joint combusts into flame. Quickly blow it out and begin to take a drag. Ideally, this will spread it evenly for a smooth burn all the way through.

2. Blunts

Blunts are similar to joints. The only difference is that they use a cigar wrapper to hold the cannabis flower. This allows you to fit even more cannabis into the final product. Blunts come with a lot of the same benefits as joints. The materials are readily available at convenience stores and they’re easy to use.

The only problem is that there’s tobacco in them. As such, this can be hurtful to sensitive lungs often found on newbies. As such, we recommend sticking to joints before moving on to blunts if you’re new.

3. Bongs

Bongs can be thought of as water pipes. Essentially, they’re a filtration device that features a chamber filled halfways with water. A second downstem, which holds the cannabis flower, is connected to this chamber. To use a bong you should first put your mouth directly into the main chamber.

Make sure it forms a seal. Then, light the weed in the downstem. Begin pulling gently. You should notice the chamber filling with milky smoke. When you get enough smoke in the chamber, lift on the downstem. This will cause the smoke to rapidly enter your lungs. Be careful if it’s your first time using a bong. They can be quite intense for the uninitiated.

4. Dry Flower Vaporizers

Some types of vaporizers allow you to place ground cannabis flowers directly into the device. It then heats the flower using technology that’s similar to a convection oven. To use these devices, simply place the cannabis flower into the heating chamber, turn it on, and begin to pull from the device.

The nice thing about these vaporizers is they’re portable. They also don’t smell as much as the smoke from joints and bongs. As such, they’re more discreet. However, they do cost a lot of money to initially purchasing them. And, you need to worry about charging it.

5. Bowls

Bowls, or glass pipes, are another popular method. Most types of bowls feature a hole to inhale out of, as well as a shotgun hole to put your finger out of.

To use a bowl, cover the shotgun hole, light the cannabis flower, and begin to pull on the mouth hole. After a second or two, release your finger from the shotgun hole and inhale deeply. This will cause the smoke you were pulling to enter your lungs.

6. One-time Devices

Don’t have a glass piece, paper, or vaporizer on hand? That’s all right! Simply take an apple, or similar fruit, and turn it into a pipe. You can do this by creating a main chamber with a pencil down the middle. Then two side holes — one for your mouth, the other for the shotgun. Then, simply smoke with like you would a bowl.

What Are the Different Types of Cannabis Flowers?

Often when newcomers think of cannabis flowers, they immediately think of THC. THC is the psychoactive component in cannabis that provides people with a euphoric, high feeling. In marijuana, the flowers, or buds, typically contain the highest concentration of this substance. However, THC also comes with some negative side effects, like anxiety, brain fog, and tiredness.

If you’re too nervous to try THC, then don’t give up on cannabis flowers quite yet. Hemp is a strand of Sativa cannabis that contains little to no THC. While it’s typically used for industrial purposes, the cannabis flowers on hep contain high concentrations of CBD.

As such, you can smoke them and get all the health benefits of CBD without any of the negative feelings that THC sometimes causes. Make sure to check out this guide if you want to explore some of the best CBD nugs available on the market.
