About

I am a misplaced Texan living in Northern, New Jersey.

I love to bake and cook and have my mom and dad to thank for my obsession.  I really enjoy experimenting with new recipes and making things in the kitchen because it allows me to be creative.  I started forgivingmartha as a way to share my recipes and thoughts with friends and family.  However, it has taken on more purpose since my diagnoses of Celiac disease in October of 2010.  I’m now learning cooking and baking all over again, this time gluten-free.    UPDATE: Since January of 2011, I've personally been gluten-free, soy-free and vegan! Whew!  I'm still experimenting to find what makes me my healthiest.

Some of the recipes I feature are gluten-free and some are not. I’m busy learning and experimenting with new alternative ingredients and working to make healthy (and some not-so-healthy) meals and treats that everyone can enjoy.  I happen to have friends who more than appreciate my non-gluten-free baking and cooking, so I post conventional recipes as well.   I’m always careful to label my gluten-free recipes as such, so that readers with similar dietary restrictions or preferences can easily find recipes that are suited to their liking.

Thanks for stopping by!  I’d love to hear from you either by commenting or by email jess{at}forgivingmartha{dot}com.
