Yes. Believe it. Believe it because it totally happened. The best brownies were born today. But first, you must suffer through the story, because there's always a story for something this good.
You should know that just like my pops, I'm an early bird. While everyone else was asleep this morning, we headed out to a beautiful nearby farm to pick some blueberries. I was blissed out on the whole experience and perhaps a bit overly selective with my picking. So by the time Dad called out to leave, my bucket seemed like quite a disappointment compared to his Olympic-sized bucketful.
I quickly realized that something I've never seen was a chocolate and blueberry dessert. I just knew they'd get along fabulously and you know what? They do. Blueberries stuffed inside a moist and chocolaty brownie swirled with... Nutella.
Oh
heck
yes
I
did.
Nutella can do no wrong.
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 cup white sugar
1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup blueberries
1/2 cup Nutella
1 cup blueberries
1/2 cup Nutella
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line and lightly grease an 8x8 (I actually used a 11 X 6 1/2") baking dish; Set aside.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter, sugar, and vanilla.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- In a small bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, cinnamon, and salt. Slowly stir the flour mixture into the chocolate mixture until well blended. Stir in the blueberries.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish. Swirl in Nutella (with your finger if you're especially neat!) and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Hi Jess, these look absolutely magnificent. All I can say is that I love brownies and I love Nutella - I am thinking I will definitely be trying these sometime soon! Thanks (from your newest follower) :)
Jess, great to see you back after your break. Your blueberry and chocolate brownies are genius - getting up early in the morning is obviously good for the creative side of the brain.
Thanks Kate! (And welcome!)
@Hester Casey - Alchemy: SO glad to be back! It's funny how much you miss it when you're gone. :) And thanks!
These look delicious and I really like what flavors you pulled together. Thanks for sharing.Buzz
This looks absolutely delicious. I love that flavor combo and those brownies look so fudgy! :)
I think iambaker did these too... you both are such great bakers.
My batch is in the oven right now. I cannot wait to try them!
Hi, I stumbled upon your blog from your guest post on eatliverun. I just made these! A little different than the expected brownie, but in a good way. I had a hard time making the batter even when I swirled in the Nutella. I honestly think they would be good with our without the Nutella! Yumm :)I noticed the directions don't mention the baking soda from the recipe, but I just sifted it with the dry ingredients. Thank you :)
